Changes

So I'm making some changes in my life in order to save money so that I can quit living paycheck to paycheck, and perhaps someday buy a house. Some of these changes I really don't want to make, but in the end things will be ok. I need to pay off some debt, including a big amount of money I owe to the dentist who has caused me nothing but pain and misery. No, I'm not whoring myself out on the corner, or taking up a job stripping. But I am moving, and also possibly selling the horse. I know, it sucks. But I can't afford to have him at this point. I have given it much thought, and I think I need to just not own a horse right now. I will still be able to ride on a daily basis, and even show, so horses will still be a big part of my life - I just won't have to cough up an entire paycheck each month to pay for one. I want to be able to save money for things like vacations, groceries, gas, truck payments, etc. And if I do sell the horse, I'll make sure he goes to a good home.

And in good news, a new boy in my life has made things a little easier to handle. He's great. Stellar. And that's all I'll say for now.

Later, gators.

  1. What?!? Sell T-Bone?!? If I could, I would buy him right now from you as I just love him!! But alas, I too am waiting on my financial situation to get better - as in still waiting on my settlement money!!
I understand having to change your life a bit to afford to actually LIVE. I am having to do the same as of late. Slowly. Painfully. Gas prices are killing me! Food prices are killing me! Heck, things are just too expensive.
HUGS to you as I feel your pain.

  2. I can sympathize with the money thing. I had that moment of "what am I thinking? I can't afford a horse." But I've always found a way and I will continue to do so. Of course, Snoopy's 20 and so selling him would be difficult and scary, because I know where old horses no one can afford end up going. Luckily T-Bone is still pretty young and well-trained.

Still, have you thought about maybe leasing him out temporarily while you save some money? Or at the very least, make sure you get a right of first refusal in your contract if you do end up selling him so that you don't lose track of him.
